On November 11th, 2018 we mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice in 1918 that signaled the end of World War One.
Our wonderful children have been remembering those who have lost their lives during the First World War, the Second World War and all wars since as we commemorate the Armistice Day. As part of Remembrance Day our children at both our Macclesfield and Bollington nurseries have been taking part in different activities to pay our respects and honour those who sacrificed their today for our tomorrow.
Our Macclesfield nursery have created a mural in our main window looking out onto Cumberland Street. The children have created poppies to accompany our unknown soldiers who stands to attention.
Our Bollington nursery have visited the local war memorial that bares the names of those of Bollington who died in the two world wars. An inscription also reads, “They whom this memorial commemorates were numbered among those who at the call of King and Country left all that was dear to them, endured hardness, faced danger, and finally passed out of the sight of men by the path of duty and self-sacrifice, giving up their own lives that others might live in freedom. Let those who come after see to it that their names be not forgotten.”
We will remember them.
